So I finally got it done and I think it turned out quite well, and I really enjoyed putting this project together even though I don't really care for the indesign program much.

This was my first draft of this project and I think there are alot of kinks to work out. So my second draft will be a better. But I lot of images I can use so it's sort of hard to narrow it down to just these three.

This is part of my thumbnail sketches for this layout, obviously they are very rough right now but I am excited to put it all together.

Print making project

This is my most recent print for print making and we are learning to add textures. It's pretty cool.

Final Product

I changed the tree's in the background so it's not an entire tree but more of the branches of trees in winter, and after meeting with our group changed the photograph so it looked like a polaroid and more naturalistic. Where as before it looked like I tried to make it look like that in photoshop. I also added just a smidge of color to the title to reflect the color in the finger tips. I am really happy with how it turned out, I think it's engaging without really telling you anything about the book.

First Draft

So I took pictures of some kids I used to work with at a DayCare, and I really wanted to play off off of the fact that color starts to appear once the character of this book starts to learn how to be the Giver. Also the background was to elude to that fact that in the end of the book Jonas runs away through the woods and it's winter.

I decided since the most recent books that I have read have been the twilight series and Harry Potter that chosing a book I read in middle school would work better. Especially since I love the covers of the twilight series just as they are. So I decided to chose the book the Giver. Some of the main ideas of this book are that the people don't see colors, have memories, etc except for the Giver.

Here is the final piece for my pictogram, and it's easier to read on the computer then how it printed out where the hate overlaps the snowflake. And the rain drop also printed very dark compared to this. But overall I am happy with how they turned out. I really enjoyed using illustrator for the first time :)

This is my first draft of the pictograms. I am going to work on simplifying them, and also removing the color.

These are my roughs for the weather idea, I am probably going to do the bottom set because I think they are unified in design. And i think they show several suggestions depending on the weather conditions.
